— DiStO 4 „Photo-staging“

on Friday, December 14, 8 pm at the Minor theater

Still Object Theater (Divadlo statického objektu / DiStO) is a theatrical-exhibition format that makes use of the “magical” potential of stage presentation. It challenges exhibited artists to create scene situations in the form of configurations of static objects and leads viewers to observe them with intense concentration.

This invitation to Still Object Theater (whose creators are visual artists Matěj Smetana and Martin Piaček together with creative art theoretician Ján Kralovič) from Prague’s Fotograf Gallery stems from the emotional kinship of theatrical presentation and photographic creation in atelier conditions. It also builds on the tendency to point out the material aspects of photography, its relationship to all four dimensions of time-space and the articulation of its principles through transcription or transposition to other, different media. Viewer-visitors to the Prague DiStO will become, figuratively speaking, cameras exposing the scenes before them during the three-minute allotted time period.

The following artists accepted the invitation to take part in DiStO 4 “Photo-staging”: Hynek Alt, Anetta Mona Chisa, Lenka Glisníková, Lukáš Jasanský — Martin Polák, Alena Kotzmannová, Peter Sit, Petr Strouhal and Jiří Thýn.

The performance will take place in the small hall at the Minor Theater (Vodičkova 6, Prague 1).
The performance lasts 1 hour.
Entry fee: 50 CZK

The Disto 4 event received financial support from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts Prague.
