The exhibition, which is in the Fotograf Gallery shop, poetically responds to changes in the perception of the body, which is not only currently subject to external, unusually strict medical supervision, but also to novel subjective experiences. As time progresses, during which we must not meet, touch and partly not even see each other, something is happening with us… The photographic montage of Lenka Glisníková and Karolína Matušková can be perceived as a free variation on the Kafkaesque transformation, which takes place in the typical Renoir-like sunny environment of spring, awakening nature. Metamorphosis progresses without us noticing it. Then we feel the aluminum alloy armor on our backs and our soft tissues don’t start to become wood. Aware of the fact that we have always been “beetles” more than we wanted to admit, and that we have one last step towards cyborgs, the relationship between nature, man and technology is being reorganised.
Glisníková and Matušková (both born in 1990) studied together at the photographic studio of the Faculty of Arts in Ostrava and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. After the exhibition in the Zlín Gallery Kabinet T. this will be their second collaboration. However, they focus on fashion and commercial photography under the common identity of shotby.us. Last year, they were nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award for photographs for Radio Wave or Dolce Vita.
The exhibition in the shop windows takes place until May 31st. The gallery is scheduled to open on June 4th, 2020.
